"Paint the Southwest" Offers Two Kinds of
Landscape Painting Workshops with Michael Chesley Johnson

1. Private Painting Intensive Study . Based in northern New Mexico at Michael's winter studio, this program is for experienced painters only. After a preliminary consultation with Michael to create a custom program, you'll work with him side-by-side, one-on-on, both in the field and in the studio. Includes six nights' lodging at the studio and three meals a day, with private bed and bath. Click on the link for details.

2. All-Level Group Plein Air Painting Workshops. The original "Paint Sedona" program! Michael will teach small groups (no more than 10) the important fundamentals of plein air painting. Any level of student is welcome and in any medium. Workshops will be based in the Sedona, Arizona, area and elsewhere in the Southwest. Includes four half-days of tuition. About Michael Chesley Johnson

One of the country's top plein air painters, Michael Chesley Johnson works in oil and pastel in the American Southwest, coastal Maine and the Canadian Maritimes. He has been an invited artist to many national plein air painting events over the years and has competed in challenging locations such as the Grand Canyon.

Elected a Master Pastellist by Pastel Artists Canada in 2008, he is a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society and the Pastel Society of America and a juried member of Oil Painters of America. He is the author of Backpacker Painting: Outdoors with Oil & Pastel and Through a Painter's Brush: The American Southwest . A long-time contributor to The Pastel Journal and Contributing Editor for The Artist's Magazine, he splits his year between Downeast Maine and the Southwest, teaching and painting in both. Michael also specializes in teaching small-size plein air workshops in oil and pastel for the intermediate and advanced level painter and for painters desiring mentoring.
